Appointment of Non-Executive Director

Shanta Gold Limited, the East African focused gold producing company, is pleased to announce the appointment of John Rickus as a non-executive director of the Company with immediate effect.

Mr Rickus (age 66) is a highly experienced mining executive with over 40 years’ experience in the mining industry throughout the world. For almost three decades John fulfilled a variety of executive global roles for Rio Tinto including managing director of Rio Tinto Technical Services and President of the Resolution copper project in Arizona. Most recently he was Chief Executive, and is currently Chairman, of Kincora Copper Limited.

Commenting on the appointment, Mike Houston, CEO, said: “I am delighted John has agreed to join Shanta Gold team. We have indicated that we are looking to build a board that has necessary skills in the key disciplines critical to the company’s future. John brings a significant track record in involvement in mining projects from operations through to Board membership which will be invaluable as we continue to develop the New Luika operation and look to move forward with our Singida project.”
